Frank Zappa - The Best Of Frank Zappa (CD)

 · Strictly Commercial: The Best of Frank Zappa is a compilation not of the composer's hits -- he only broke the Top 40 on one occasion, with "Valley Girl" -- but rather, a collection of his best-known material, from "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" to "Sexual Harassment in the Workplace." Zappa 's albums often function as individual works, but this disc offers an intelligent selection of songs, serving /10().

 · If there is anything Frank Zappa had disdain for, it was definitely the hippie counterculture of the s. From mocking The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s album artwork implementing elements of Musique Critique to his general distaste for the commercialisation of the culture — Zappa was not a fan. He satirised the peace and love right out of what he saw as these “shallow hippies” following hollow .

An experimental gem that serves as one big middle finger towards the hippie movement of the '60s. This album pretty much solidifed Frank Zappa as one of the most out-there and boundary-pushing artists of the time. Favourite Track: Concentration Moon.

 · Zappa sucks, it's like that asshole cousin you always hated but could not shake loose he was 4 years older than you and he would booger you mercilessly, listening to Zappa feels like getting stepped on my head by my cousin while he flicks a booger on me, seriously this is how annoying and revolting this music sounds.

  1. This is a wonderful CD - buy it if you haven't heard Zappa before - it's a great start and a good insight into his work during the 70's. However it's not his "best", even of that period - rather a safe (by Frank's standards) selection of his shorter, more conventional material from a number of albums, including 3 tracks from Overnite Sensation and 2 from Aprostrophe/5(59).

  2. 1 taken from the album "Hot Rats", released 2 original version appears on the album "Apostrophe (')", released 3 taken from the album "Sheik Yerbouti", released 4 taken from the album "One Size Fits All, released /5(32).

  3.  · Media Format: Compact Disk Rating: Release Date: AUG Frank Zappa As close as anyone has come to a definitive greatest hits set, Strictly Commercial manages to encapsulate much, if not most, of a career that deliberately defied any such attempts. This is the most accessible single collection of Zappa's music available, containing familiar ditties such as "Don't Eat /5().
